Jing Wu Martial Arts

Website in wordpress

Context

After a legal trademark dispute forced a name change from Senda to Jing Wu, the school required a complete digital redesign. I designed a new website to address the lack of clear information on pricing and scheduling, while also highlighting the master’s extensive work. The project’s goal was to re-establish the school’s authority and heritage within the Brazilian Kung Fu scene under its new identity.

My contributions

My role was to redesign the website within a limited budget, ensuring the owner could easily manage the content independently. By analyzing FAQs, I delivered a clearer UI that anticipated user needs, significantly reducing the time the master spent answering routine questions. Making prices transparent improved the customer experience by reducing friction in the user journey; as a result, we saw a direct increase in trial class sign-ups.

Discovery and Research

I began by researching various martial arts school websites and selected the WordPress theme for the project. From there, I analyzed key user inquiries, including prices, class schedules, what the courses entail, student progression, and payment options.

Design Process

Conduct competitive research and benchmarking.

Analyze frequently asked questions (FAQs) to define content strategy.

Draft paper wireframes for rapid ideation.

Adapt layouts within the WordPress theme’s technical constraints.

Validate with user testing.

Monitor metrics and performance.

Optimize based on user needs and data insights.

Conclusion

Since its launch, the website has been constantly updated, which helped save time for customer service by handling common inquiries on WhatsApp. Ongoing iteration is simple, as WordPress allows these modifications to be made by anyone on the team.
